Two years after the release of the JUPITER-8, Roland released the more affordable JUPITER-6 synthesizer with built-in MIDI control. The instrument had many advanced features for its time, including the ability to split the keyboard into two zones, with separate patches active on each zone. It featured a fat resonant low-pass filter, along with an optional high-pass filter and an array of envelope and LFO modulation options. The JUPITER-8 features eight voices with two oscillators per voice, which combined with Roland’s classic chorus effects made for incredibly wide, thick sounds. The JUPITER-8 was Roland’s flagship synthesizer for the first half of the 1980s and is heralded as one of the greatest analog synths of all time!
